Month of May
Algebra 1 We will begin the month simplifying and multiplying cube roots. We will also draw their graphs. For the remaining weeks, we will perform operations with rational expressions. Geometry At the beginning of the month we will finish the unit on special right triangles and trigonometry. We will then move into finding the area and perimeter of figures. Lastly, we will find the volume of figures. Foundations During the entire month we will be solving systems of equations algebraically and graphically. Then on to applying the skills in traditional word problems.
Weeks of 4/2 4/27
Algebra 1: You will be preforming operations with radicals and reviewing for the PARCC. Geometry: You will be finding angle and segment measures in circles. Foundations: You will be writing equations of lines given slope, a point, two points or the graph.
Weeks of 3/5 3/16
Foundations We will be graphing lines using slope and the y intercept. You will need to solve some equations for y. We will also begin writing equations of lines using slope and yintercept. I will give you several assignments to complete on IXL that covers this information. Algebra1 We will use the solve right triangles using trigonometry We will also use the distance and midpoint formula to answer questions about segments. I will give you several assignments to complete on IXL that covers this information. Geometry We will be introduced to the language of circles and cover vocabulary to help us solve problems involving angles, arcs, chords, secants and tangents. I will give you several assignments to complete on IXL that covers this information.
Weeks of 2/19 3/2
Algebra 1 We will continue practicing solving all types of quadratic equations using factoring, taking square roots, completing the square and the quadratic formula. You will be assigned lessons from Math XL to complete. You will have a quiz on this information on 2/27. Foundations We will continue to complete function tables and using them to graph lines. We will also discuss how to determine if a point is a solution to an equation. You will be assigned lessons from Math XL to complete. You will have a quiz on this information on 2/27. Geometry We will continue finding missing sides and angles of similar figures. You will be assigned lessons from Math XL to complete. You will have a quiz on this information on 2/27.
Weeks of 1/22 2/16
Algebra 1 We will be preforming operations with radicals. (simplifying, multiplying) We will then begin to solve quadratic equations by completing the square and using the quadratic formula. Geometry We will be working with the properties of parallelograms and using them to classify quadrilaterals. Afterwards, we will begin using proportions to find missing sides and angles of similar figures. Foundations We will begin graphing coordinates. Afterwards, we will use function tables to create tables of values to graph.
Week of January 16 19
Attached you will find the exam review answer keys. Your exam is on Thursday, January 18. Do your best to prepare!
Week of January 2 5
Happy New Year!!! Foundations This week we will have a quiz on proportions and begin solving linear inequalities. We will use day one of this week to review proportions before your quiz. Algebra 1 This week we will have a quiz on solving by factoring. We will use day one of this week to review solving by factoring before your quiz. Afterwards, we will begin graphing quadratic functions. Geometry This week we will have a quiz on triangle congruence. We will use day one of this week to review congruence theorems and using them to write mini proofs.
Weeks of December 4 8 and 11 15
Foundations We will finish solving absolute value and literal equations. Afterwards, we will start a new unit on ratios, rates and proportions. You will have two quizzes on this information before the break. Algebra 1 We will be factoring polynomials completely using all methods. You will have a quiz on factoring on 12/13. We will also solve quadratic equations using the zero product property. Geometry We will begin using congruence statements to determine if triangles are congruent. You will have a quiz on this information before the break.
